The Bow Valley Naturalists have initiated a project to compile information on the distribution of High Elevation Localized Species (HELS) in our part of the Rocky Mountains.  Check our Spring 2010 newsletter for some background about HELS.  We have selected 4 species as subjects: Hoary Marmot, Pika, Mountain Goat, White-tailed Ptarmigan.

We are asking our members to keep track of their observations of these species and record those observations to the HELS section of the website. You will find a brief explanation of our purpose in embarking on this journey to document some of the life of the high country, as well as a process for entering your sightings.

2010 was our trial run of this data collection site and we have already made improvements based on feedback from users. We are continuing our trial run and welcome any suggestions to further improve the process.

All the HELS observations you contribute will be greatly appreciated.

The HELS pages can be found by clicking this link
